ASSIGNMENTS & ASSESMENT.  


All assignments are to be typed, and handed in on the due dates.
You will receive a final grade upon the completion of all the  assignments.

I.               Attendance and class participation:  20% of your grade.

II.             Lead and facilitate class discussion, communicate ideas and make presentation. (20% of the grade)

III.           Synthesize  and Summarize arguments to support your position on Your chosen Conflict zone. (40% of your grade)

IV.           Research Paper  Presentation 20% of your grade



I. 
Attendance and class participation:  20% of your grade

The course requires attendance and reading by all. Students are expected to have studied the assigned reading selections for the week in advance of the class meeting.



II. Lead and facilitate class discussion, communicate ideas and make presentation.
Assignment 1.
Students will focus on a country of their choice and construct a “Status of Women” report on this country.
Students will be provided a set of criteria of what will need to be included in this report. The reports will be
based on United Nations’ reports and other relevant materials. Papers should be about 5 pages in length,

Assignment 2. due April 18th.
Students will build on Assignment 1 by selecting / the causes of the conflict leading to a relevant issues  pertaining to global violence against women within their country of choice. Students will provide an overview of their selected issues/ reasons of conflict in the region.  as well as highlight a current intervention that is currently being utilized to address, treat, and/or combat the situation.  Papers should be 8-10 pages in length, , and include 4-5references (2 of which must be outside the course material).
Assignment 3. Due May  2nd
 Final Paper
Students will return to their country of focus from Assignments 1& 2. For the final paper,
Students will discuss the social change efforts that have occurred regarding Global Violence Against Women’s issues.
These efforts can include but are not limited to: legislative initiatives, grassroots campaigns, UN /global Interventions, NGO, ICC etc.
 These change efforts should have a global perspective and connect the role of the United States (if applicable).
